You Can’t Flat Tummy Tea Your Way To Success, here’s why.

Happy New Year Peeps!  I hope that you’re having a great start to 2018. With the new year comes new goals, new outlooks, and new opportunities.  If you have big goals, which you should, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of work it’s going to take for you to accomplish your goals.  You might be tempted to figure out how to take the shortcut to get to the end result.  I call this the “flat tummy tea” method.

If you’re on social media, which I’m sure you are, then you’ve seen the flat tummy tea ad’s by several of their brand ambassadors.  Now these brand ambassadors are usually well-known social media models.  Most of them have the “video vixen” body type (small waist, big butt, and flat tummy).  They take cute pictures, usually bare faced and in a cute workout outfit.  They tell you that their tummy’s are flat and bloat free because they’ve been taking flat tummy tea and you should use their coupon code to get a discount to get your tummy flat too.  Oh, and did I mention they also state that you don’t have to work out, just drink the tea and BOOM, you too can have a flat tummy.

 

 

So here is the real “tea” about this Flat Tummy Tea, IT DON’T WORK!  It may flush out a little bloat but that’s nothing a regular detox can’t do.  YOU WILL NOT LOOK LIKE BLAC CHYNA BY DRINKING FLAT TUMMY TEA!  The majority of the chicks trying to sell you tea have surgically enhanced bodies, no tea, no shade.  They didn’t get flat tummy’s because of any tea or a workout but because they paid for it.  Don’t be fooled!  Unless you have money to blow to get the same results, you won’t be having a flat tummy by drinking team.  Abs are made in the kitchen, gym, and if you have money, at your nearest plastic surgeons office.

So what am I saying?  It’s simple, if you have a muffin top, it won’t go away by just throwing back some magic tea.  If you want the body you have to do the work, no short cuts.  The reason the work is so necessary is because during the process you’ll learn how to make healthy choices.  You’ll learn how to maintain your goal weight.  You’ll create new habits that are needed if you’re going to be successful at maintaining your new healthy lifestyle and you’re going to break the bad habits that are counter productive to your goals.  Flat Tummy Tea can’t teach you all of the things you need to know to accomplish your fitness goals.

So here is the real “tea” about this Flat Tummy Tea, IT DON’T WORK! It may flush out a little bloat but that’s nothing a regular detox can’t do. YOU WILL NOT LOOK LIKE BLAC CHYNA BY DRINKING FLAT TUMMY TEA.

It’s the same thing for any other goals you have.  There are no easy routes you have to do the work.  PERIOD.  You won’t get to the top of your career by winging it.  You won’t get that degree you want by missing classes and not doing your work.  Your business will never grow and become profitable if you DON’T DO THE WORK! 

Trust me, I know that doing the work can be tiresome, overwhelming, and down right exhausting.  I’ve been there, still there, and will continue to push through and work the plan until I accomplish my goals and get my desired results. 

When I first started my business, I read so many blogs, articles, and watched so many webinars that had me believing success would come easy.  I truly believed that by the end of 2017 I would be making 6-figures because my favorite social media brand strategist was making 6-figures and made it looks so easy.  What a reality check it as when the middle of 2017 came and went and your girl was nowhere near making 6-figures, lol.  The reality of the hard work ahead set in.  I had to really look myself in the mirror and ask myself if she was ready to continue to do the work and put in even more work than I already had up to that point.  As bad as I wanted to run the other way because the work can be overwhelming, I stool tall, pushed my shoulders back, and with my head up I looked myself in the eyes and said, “Let’s do this!” 

You see, I have a passion for helping others accomplish their goals that I feel deep in my gut.  That thing that I feel will not let me quit and run the other way.  That passion that I have won’t allow me to lay down when things get tough but instead, learn from my mistakes, re-strategize and do the work.  I learned in 2017 that I cannot Flat Tummy Tea my way to the top but instead I have to trust the process and enjoy the journey.  The journey has taught me so much about perseverance, tenacity, and grit but I still have so much to learn. 

When I look back over the lives of those I admire, like Oprah, I realize that Oprah did not become a billionaire media mogul overnight.  She had to push through being abuses as a child, counted out in her career to becoming THE top rated daytime talk show queen.  When she started her network, OWN, there were naysayers and people who told her she was making a mistake.  She pushed past what people said she couldn’t do and created a successful network.  There was no quick route to Oprah’s success.  She has spent decades building her empire and creating her best life.

Life is not a sprint but a marathon.  Don’t get frustrated trying to take the easy route to success.  Instead, enjoy the process, both the good and the bad.  The good is meant to inspire you to keep going and the bad is meant to teach you what you need to know to get to the next level.  You cannot Flat Tummy Tea your way to the top, you have to do the work, make the right choices, and understand that success takes time.

You can make this year your best year.  Be strategic, trust the process, and most importantly, DO THE WORK!

Why She So Extra?

YOU CAN’T BE ORDINARY EXPECTING EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS.  If you’re okay with being mediocre, be okay with receiving mediocre results.  Yes, it’s that simple.
Extraordinary takes just a little bit EXTRA to get results that will blow your mind.  This can be applied to everything in life:
  1. Careers
  2. relationships
  3. fitness
  4. appearance
  5. ANYTHING
I’m guilty of settling for mediocrity because to be extraordinary requires EXTRA work.  I want HGTV living but to have it takes EXTRA TIME, EXTRA MONEY, and EXTRA EFFORT.
I want EXTRAORDINARY results in my business but to get it takes EXTRA EFFORT, TIME AND MONEY.
You see the thing is if you want more it requires you to do more.  For the longest, I’ve been trying to pinpoint why is it that I’m not getting any results or the results I want in my life?
Why are my relationships stagnant?  I have the greatest friend when I’m with my friends but that absence and space creates distance.  I realized that it was because of the lack of effort that I’ve been putting in.  This has impacted my entire life.  My relationships, my fitness goals, my business goals and even my parenting goals.  I’ve been guilty of doing just enough!  Just enough to get by, enough to say, Hey, I did that.  Enough to keep my family and friends around.  My motto was “JUST ENOUGH!”
It’s time to get out of this idea that just enough will get us EXTRAordinary results.  It’s time to realize that in order to live the life that we want.  The life that we dream about and envision, that LIFE.  That HGTV home life.  That Obama love that we want.  That AMAZING business that we want to build.  The Relationships that give us that energy to push through.  Those AWESOME kids that we want to raise.  ALL OF THAT, IS GOING TO TAKE ALLL OF US.
So I’m ready.  I’m ready to step out of the mediocre box and step into the EXTRAORDINARY unlimited possibilities that await me.  Are you?
I urge you to step it up.  It’s time for us to stop admiring those who are EXTRA and go and be EXTRA with them.

Happy 1 Year Busi-Versary! I made it, now what?

Sitting here reflecting over the last year and the only thing I can say is that God is amazing.  Never did I envision myself proclaiming to be an entrepreneur or conducting coaching sessions.  You see, this around the way girl with chinks in her armor could not see that I had it in me all along.  Instead, I talked myself out of walking in my purpose.  What will people think?  Can you do this?  Will people even sign up or trust you to coach them?  I limited myself based on my observations of what I believed I was lacking.

My life is not perfect.  I strive everyday to get it together, in fact, I often joke with my friends about needing to get my life together.  I’m not where I want to be spiritual, financially, or career-wise.  I work everyday to be better than I was the day before.  I pray every day for grace, mercy, forgiveness, and peace.  I fall just like the next chick and I often wonder when will my time come.

Truth is, I doubted me.  I was the obstacle in my own way.  A year ago, today I decided to stop being that obstacle.  I decided to trust what God had already given me and I decided to step out of my box and seek my purpose with everything in me.  I decided that fear would no longer hold me back.  Who cares what people will think.  They’ll never think anything good or bad if you never step out and share with the world your God-given gift.  I’m not the most extroverted person at times.  I don’t do well in large crowds.  If called onto speak in front of people I freeze up on the inside.  I’m somewhat shy at times when the spotlight is on me.  At times, I can be awkward.  With all of that, I still decided to jump and put myself out thereby declaring that I’m walking in my purpose and I’m sharing my gift.

You see I always knew I wanted to help people, I just didn’t know how I would get there.  I can remember doing the career assessment in undergrad and being pointed in the direction of being a life coach.  I had never heard 0f a life coach and I was intrigued so I researched and researched until I was on life coach overload.  Even though it was something I could see myself doing, I just couldn’t see myself being working for myself.  This is not something you can apply for in most cases and then I was a 9 to 5 type of girl.  I needed stability for my growing family and a steady paycheck was a priority on the list.  That was almost 10 years ago.  After experiencing life more and getting to the point of being uncomfortable with being comfortable, I did it.  Me!  The girl from the hood.  The chick with 5 kids.  The one they thought would never make it.  They counted me out.  I was told that I would never be successful because I had, had my kids so young.  I was made to believe that the only way up was by climbing someone’s else’s corporate ladder.  No one like me was supposed to make it because I didn’t come from a certain family or I don’t have a certain net worth.  Society would have me believe that I should be lucky to just have a job.  BUT GOD!

One day I realized that God has been calling me to the table but I have been avoiding the call.  You see this coaching thing is not about me and how great I am but how great I can help others be.  I’ve learned that each of our destinies is directly tied to the destiny of someone else and if you’re not answering the call, someone, you’re preventing them from being called.  We were all put here to help uplift and empower each other.  Our stories are meant to empower and inspire.  We go through things so that we can grow and share our testimonies.  So that the next young woman from the hood with a bleak looking future can look at someone just like her and understand that she can to do great things.  She can help people with her story.  She doesn’t have to settle for the box that society has already placed her in.  She can overcome any obstacle thrown her way and with the proper guidance she can do great things and take the torch to empower and uplift the next.

The best thing I could’ve have done was decide at my dining table on August 21st, 2016 that I was going to answer the calling NO MATTER WHAT! I declared it out loud to the Lord and I prayed for his guidance and strength because I knew that I was in for a fight.  When you step into your destiny, that’s when the real battle begins.  You’ll be thrown with all types of left and right hooks by life.  Things you didn’t have a problem with before will now become a problem.  Your children who are normally well behaved will act out.  Your marriage will be tested.  Your faith will be tested.  No matter the test you must stand and fight.  Keep pushing.  Keep believing.  God didn’t call you to fall, he called you because he knew you wouldn’t fall.  God knows what’s in us before we do.

I’m happy to say that 1 year later I’m still answering the call.  I’m still pushing and I’m still working.  I’m still working the plan.  I’m still coming up with ideas to grow the business and I’m still being patient and depending completely on God for guidance.  I always wanted to be the next Oprah but God is showing me that he’s grooming me and guiding me to be the only Life Strategist KG.

I’m so blessed to be able to say that I made it.  I MADE IT! I hung in through some of my hardest times.  Through life’s up’s and downs and I pushed through.  Over the course of the last year I’ve had some wins:

  • Published my first book, Real Tales of a Momprenuer
  • I became the Editor for Model Mom Magazine (Ask A Life Coach & Model Woman on the rise)
  • I met some awesome women living their dreams and inspiring women all around the world.

I’ve had some losses:

  • Not every product or service was able to be launched within the first year.
  • Events I wanted to host haven’t made it yet.
  • I’m not making 6 figures. (I was for sure that I would be making 6 figures by now, dang Instagram moguls)

Ove the course of the year I’ve touched many and empowered a few but most importantly, I’ve been able to show my children that with hard work and dedication, you can accomplish anything.  The joy I seen in their eyes when they saw their mother’s face on the cover of a book is priceless.  The pride they have when they say my mama has her own business can’t be replaced.  If for nothing more than to be a light to my children, I’m happy.

I’m looking forward to the next year and prayerfully many years to come.  I’m still growing, learning, and working.  I hope to help as many people as possible realize that their dreams are waiting on them to take the first step and they can do it, one foot at a time.

Are you a conqueror or conquistador?

Happy Thursday peeps! I know it’s been a few weeks since you’ve heard from me.  Having 5 kids means the month of May is extremely busy for me.  From wrapping up the end of the school year to birthdays and a demanding 9 to 5, your girl has been busy.

Nonetheless, I have a word that I would like to share.  With me wearing so many hats and having so many responsibilities, it is easy to be overwhelmed and feel helpless.  Sometimes, I think that life would be much easier if my dreams weren’t so big, but then I think, “what fun would that be?”

The easy thing to do is to quit, give up, tap out, and walk away.  That’s also how you stay stuck and settle for where you are right now.

Are you a conqueror (winner) or conquistador (loser)?  Do you give up at the first sign of “hard”? Do you allow your challenges to get you down and make you feel defeated?

If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions, it’ time for an attitude adjustment.  It’s time for you to train your mind to think on a different level.  Train yourself to replace every negative thought with a positive punch.  Your success depends on it.  Your goals and dreams will not work unless you do and it’s going to take a fight, it won’t be easy.

Whenever I think about giving up, taking the easy way out and settling for “normal”, I remind myself why I do this; it’s because I get to help others accomplish their goals and live their dreams.  I get to show my children what going after what you want looks like even when times get tough, you don’t give in you stand in and fight for what you want.

if you’ve been feeling down, depressed, overwhelmed, helpless, hopeless, or just down right TIRED, that’s when you dust your shoulders off, face your challenges head on and refuse to give in.  Don’t throw in the towel, use it to wipe your sweat off and keep fighting.  Finances in shambles? FIGHT!  Career not going the way you want? FIGHT!  Relationship issues got you down? FIGHT! Fight for your victory, fight your way to finish line.  NO MATTER WHAT, YOU ARE A CONQUEROR!

Don't throw in the towel, use it to wipe your sweat off and keep fighting.

 
I just wanted to drop in and share this because I too struggle on a daily to fight but my will to conquer my dreams is bigger than my will to give in.  I’m fighting and I will stand with you as you fight.  WE GOT THIS!  You can get that degree you’re working on.  You will get that awesome job that you’re not qualified for.  That career change you want to make will happen.  Your financial situation will improve.  You gotta be willing to put in the work and fight for what you want.

I pray that this blesses you and gives you the motivation you need to level up and show yourself what being a conqueror looks and feels like.

Master the art of slaying stress with these 5 tips

Having a husband and 5 children has made me HAVE to become a pro at keeping my stress level down.  How many people know that it’s hard out here for an adult?

Adulting can be hard but here are 5 tips that will have you slaying stress like Buffy the vampire slayer.

Go to the corner!

The first thing you should always do when dealing with a stressful situation or feeling overwhelmed is to stop what you’re doing and take a deep breath.  Taking a deep breath serves as a way for you to not only to take a moment to gather yourself, but it is also calming.  Have you ever noticed how much tension you feel leave your body after taking a deep breath?  It really helps.  So, the next time you feel the pressure rising, stop whatever you’re doing and take a deep breath (or a few of them if you’re dealing with your husband). You’ll immediately feel calmer. Calm thinking leads to level thinking which leads to making better decisions.

Have a kick butt workout and kick stresses butt

Studies show that exercise is one of the key activities you can do to alleviate stress, tension, fat and more.  There’s no way around it.  No matter how much I’ve tried to run from exercise, it just keeps finding a reason to pop back into my life.  I have decided to embrace my love/hate relationship with exercise and give in to the benefits that it offers.

The harder you go during your workout, the more you kick the hell out of stress.  Have you ever noticed how great you feel after a workout and how your stress/tension level decreases?  The better the workout the better your mood.  Go hard in the gym and knock stress out!

Sleep in, it’s good for you

I know I was happy to see that more sleep could equal less stress. I’ve been trying to tell my husband for years that my need for more sleep is not laziness but beneficial for both him and me.  I can truly say, I WAS RIGHT!  Getting enough sleep can lead to lowering your stress levels and easing tension.  Don’t feel guilty for sleeping in on the weekends or calling it quits early, your productivity dependents on it.

Namaste= No-Mo-Stress

I remember watching the movie, ‘What’s love got to do it’ and seeing the scene where Tina Turner was meditating.  I was a kid at the time and I, with my southern background, thought that she was speaking in tongue.  It was funny to me at the time and I even remember mocking her saying the mantra.

Well fast forward to now as an adult and I now understand what she was doing, but more than ever, I understand why.  Tina was trying to keep herself from ending up on an episode of ‘Snapped”.  Meditation worked because Tina got stronger and left Ike instead of killing him.

Meditation has great effects on stress and overwhelm.  I used to be stressed all the time having to deal with adulthood and trying to be everything to everybody.  As a wife/mother, having to keep up with multiple schedules and still take care of myself had me in a constant state of stress.

It wasn’t until earlier this year after I got serious about meditating, that I begin to see a difference in my life and a decrease in my stress level.  I’ve been able to get things accomplished that I thought I never would, all because I worked to create stronger prayer/meditation life.   I could not do it along, my uncle in my head, Deepak Choppra helped me with his great mediation programs.  Check out how transformational having a good meditation life can have on your life here.

Like Elsa in Frozen say’s, Let it go! 

The last tip and probably the most important is to let it go.  Too often we try to control everything and that need for control is one of the biggest causes of stress.  Trying to control our career’s, trying to control our children, our friendships, etc.  I’m tried just thinking about it!

We cannot have control over everything in life.  Truth be told, we really don’t have any control over a lot of things in our lives.  Now that we know that, why waste time worrying about something that you have absolutely no control over?  The more you worry the more time you waste and we all know how precious time is.  Once it’s  gone you can’t get it back.  My advice to you is, don’t sweat the small stuff.

So how do we slay stress?

  1. Go to timeout and breath
  2. Sweat rids stress
  3. Beauty rest is bad for stress
  4. Namaste the stress away
  5. Let it go! Let it go! Can’t hold it back anymore <—Elsa’s voice!

The Power Of The “P” & How It’s Holding You Back

There is something that is keeping you from fully realizing your dreams and living in your purpose.  You’ve been letting it hold you back for far too long.  It’s time to put an end to the hold that it’s had on you and your mind and start getting things done. 

It’s the power of the “P”, procrastination.  What?  What did you think I was talking about?  Now that you’ve gotten your mind out of the gutter, let’s see how procrastination plays a huge role in holding great people back from really stepping into their greatness.

Procrastination happens!

Studies have shown that 20% or more of people identify themselves as chronic procrastinator.  What are the characteristics of a chronic procrastinator?  Here are a few:

          • Always putting things off
          • Pays bills late
          • Waits to the last-minute to do everything
          • Misses opportunities because you put them off until it’s too late

Does that sound familiar?  Can you relate to some or all of those characteristics? If so, there is a good chance you may be a chronic procrastinator.

A Cute Planner Will Not Cure Procrastination

From the outside looking in, one would say that to cure this “problem”, the person just needs to plan better, right? Wrong.  Procrastination has nothing to do with time management.  A person who procrastinated can plan events and task in advance but when it comes down to executing them, they just miss the mark.  It’s like planning to procrastinate.  You plan to attend an event.  You have all of the details, date, time, etc but you put off purchasing the ticket.  That’s a waste of energy, going through the process of planning but failing to execute one of the most critical steps.  Do you find yourself doing sometimes?  I know I have. 

You Were Not Born This Way

Some studies show that procrastination is a learned trait and not a gene you’re born with.  It is through your experiences in life that you learn to be an expert procrastination.  How do you change a learned trait? You don’t feed it.  You do the opposite until the opposite becomes your new habit.  So instead of putting off that housework that you wrote down on your to-do list, just do it.  You want a better job or to start your own business, do the work.  Maybe you want a new boo but have been putting off setting up your match.com account, get to it.

Keep in mind that there is no better time than now and that you’ll feel better later after having accomplished the things you want to do.

By procrastinating and putting it off, you feel bad later and end up feeling like a failure because you put it off again.

Stop Lying To Yourself

If you think you’re doing yourself a justice by telling yourself things like; “Oh it won’t hurt if I do it later.”  Or, “ I just don’t feel like doing that now, it can wait.”  You’re wrong.  You’re doing yourself an injustice, your goals/dreams an injustice and if you have any children, you’re doing them an injustice too.

You’re setting yourself up for failure by putting off for later what you can do now.  Now don’t get me wrong, I know that sometimes you’re just tired and you don’t feel like doing anything.  I get it, I’m a wife, mom, business owner and full-time employee.  There are some day’s I want to come home and just throw myself in the bed but the results of that are not worth the risk.  For me, if I let procrastination rule my life, my house would be a mess, kids would be raising themselves and my business would not be growing. 

It’s all about being honest with yourself.  Ask yourself what will the consequences be if you keep putting stuff off?  How will it benefit you and those important to you?  Will it keep you from growing?

Once you can paint a clear picture for yourself and see how procrastination is impacting your life, your goals, and keeping you from living your dreams, I hope that motivates your to step your game up.

You’re sitting at your desk and an email hit’s your already overloaded inbox from a needy client that reads, “URGENT”.  Immediately your blood rushes to your head, the coffee you drank less than an hour ago no longer has its effect and you just want to scream.  Before you type that nasty email response to your client who thinks that every minuscule need is URGENT, stop.

Pause

Take the time to just Pause. Take a moment to breath in the moment and let out all of the negative emotions and energy you’re feeling.  Do this a couple of times to make sure you’ve gotten all of the negativity out of your bones before you proceed.  This will help you calm yourself and rid yourself of the negative energy you feel at that moment.  After you’ve taken the needed amount of breathes to put your mind back at ease, you’re ready for the next step.

Ponder

Now you’re ready to reflect on the what, why, and how.  What is causing you this stress, anxiety, or negative energy?  Why is it causing you to feel the way you feel and why are you letting it? How should you respond?  By taking the time to reflect, you give yourself time to really think about things from a different perspective, than you would have had before.  You allow yourself the time to think things through and this allows you to refocus your energy in a more positive way.  Ever heard the saying, ‘Think before you_?”  That’s what this step allows you to do, think before you act or speak so that you’re coming from the best possible place at all times.  Now that you’ve taken the time to take a breather and reflect, it’s time to act on YOUR best behalf before you act on anyone else’s.

Pray

Before you respond, take the time to pray or meditate.  Whatever you do in your own spiritual time, do that in this moment.  This will give you time to seek spiritual guidance.  This is the best way to ensure that you’re always coming from the best place possible while dealing with life’s issue’s.

In order to live your best life, you’ve got to be your best self.  Like the Snicker’s commercial, you’re not yourself when you’re hungry, you’re not yourself when you’re hungry for good internal vibes.

That’s it!  In those 3 steps, you can create positive vibes at all times.  These steps can help you ensure that you always take a proactive approach instead of being a reactive mess.

Remember the three key steps, PAUSE, PONDER, AND PRAY!

The Year Is Running Out! 5 Ways To End 2016 With A Bang

As I sit here reviewing the goals I had set for 2016, I realize that I haven’t done as bad as I thought but I’m also not where I wanted to be at this time of 2016.

Instead of getting down on myself, I revamped and prioritized the goals I have yet to accomplish set then added action steps that’s going to help me gear up and get ready to knock those goals off of my list.

You’ve come to the last quarter of the year and you too have realized you’re not where you wanted to be by this part of the year. You’ve noticed that some of the goals you had or started have just be sitting in your journal or…I hate to say this.. in your mind (shakes), not completed.

Don’t fret, it’s not too late.  As of today, you still have 69 days left in 2016 to accomplish the things you started but have yet to complete.

Here are 5 ways to ramp up your goal chasing and end 2016 with a bang!

Get Clarity

Do you know where you envision yourself, your business or your relationship?  Maybe you wanted to start a business but got overwhelmed by all of the info you started to intake from all of the ‘How To’s’ and branding experts on the web.  It’s not too late to pick that dream up, dust it off, and START IT!

There’s no better time like the present to start doing the work.  Get you a cute journal, pen, and cup of your favorite coffee or tea, and get to work.  Start writing down YOUR vision.  Be specific!  Write down your goal from the what, how, and your why.

Example: I want to create a robot that will assist working mothers around the house.  The robot will help with cleaning, organizing and whipping the kids in shape.  I want to have the first prototype complete by Feb 1, 2017 and I am going to enlist my engineer friend,’ so and so’ and my scientist friend ‘so and so’ assist me with the this project.  I want to do this because I am a working mother who understands the struggles of other working mothers and how much pressure having to do it all adds to life. This help working mothers relieve the pressure of having to do it all and free up time for them to enjoy their families.  Even more important, this will be a product that working mothers can make a one-time investment in and have a lifetime of happiness.

Be as specific as possible, as detailed as possible and set actionable steps with deadlines. This exercise should be done no matter what your goal is.

Get Organized

Now that you know what your goals are for the remainder of the year.  You’ve set your deadlines on when each goal/task should be completed.  You’re ready to put a strategy in place that will set you up to be as successful as possible.

  • Get out your calendar, and add your task/goals on the date in which you will complete them.
  • Now schedule the time you’re going to use to work on those task.
  • Block out blocks of time that you can use to focus solely on your goals and work on the task that you need to check off of your list.

Doing this will help you be intentional about your goals and the things you want to accomplish.  It also helps you pre-plan for the time you’re going to need to work on your goals.  No excuses about “not having time.”  You’re just made time.

Get Active

If you’re going to be an effective goal getter, you’re going to need energy and stamina to push through those hard times and for some long nights of working on accomplishing those goals.  Ever heard the saying, ‘Get fit get rich?’ It holds some truth.  Ask the most successful person if they could have done it without a strong health foundation and they’ll laugh at you.  In order to get the type of transformational results you want, you have to be willing to transform into the person who is strong, mentally, physically and emotionally to do it.

Incorporating at least 30 minutes of fitness activity a day is a good start, especially if you’re not already a fitness buff like myself.  Take the stairs instead of the elevator.  Take a walk (if the weather permits) after dinner.  Take the kids to play at the park.  Download a fitness app.  However you do it, just do it.  It will def be well worth it.  You’ll notice the increase in energy and your ability to get things done.  The mental clarity will help you make good decisions when chasing your goals. And before you know it, you’ll be a gym rate in no time!

Get Motivated

If you’re going to be successful at this thing you’re going to need some motivational medicine.  This is something a good book can help or some great mentors.  For me it was a book that helped me kick the procrastination and excuses and be about action.  ‘Do The Work’ by Steven Pressfield.  I cannot tell you much this short book kicked me into overdrive to stop talking, reading, researching and searching and just start doing.

It also helps to find a good mentor or two, or three.  It can be people who you look up to and admire that you know or someone you don’t know and they are your mentor in your head.  I have several mentors that I know in person and even more that don’t yet know that they’re my mentor (in my head) lol. Mentors are people you can look too for advice, motivation, and to get that extra push you need to kick your goals task!

Do The Work

Now it gets simple and maybe hard at the same time…if that’s even possible.  As an entrepreneur I can tell you that it is possible.  Now it’s time for you to DO THE WORK! Be about that action!  Make stuff happen!  All of that.  You have a clear view of your path for the rest of 2016, you have the steps you need to take and the tools you’ll need to get you through.  You’re ready, go out and conquer the rest of 2016!  Remember, it’s not how you start but how you finish and you’re ready to finish strong!

5 Myths About Goal Planning That’s Keeping You From Growing

A limiting mindset can thwart a great goal but there are other things that could be keeping you stagnant.  In order to be a successful goal getter, you must first believe wholeheartedly that you can achieve the goals you set for yourself and then put foot to pavement and go get your goals. If you’re stuck, you may want to make sure that the 5 myths below are not holding you back.

Myth #1:  Be Realistic About Your Goals.

Wrong!  You are only limited by your beliefs in yourself and your abilities.  The saying the sky is the limit can be as true as you believe it to be.  Don’t limit yourself.  Be unrealistic, be bold and be radical about your goals.  If your goal is to be the first person to walk on the moon wearing high heels while sipping wine, go for it.  Don’t let anyone tell you that your goal is impossible not even yourself.  You can truly do whatever it is you first put your mind to and then follow it up with action.

Myth #2: Failure means the end of the road for your dream.

I’m glad Bill Gates didn’t let this thinking deter him, especially when his first startup, Traf-O-Data failed.  Bill didn’t take that failure as a sign to hang it up and move on.  He took that failure as a sign to try again and take what he learned the first time around to be more successful the second time.  That thinking is what led him and his partner, Paul Allen, to create Microsoft.  Don’t let failure or delay keep you from accomplishing your goals and living your dreams.  Delay does not equal denial.  Keep pushing, keep planning, keep working most and importantly keep goaling.

Myth #3: You don’t need to be specific about your goals, summarize.

How do you expect to be successful if you don’t even know what that success looks like?  Or how you’re going to get there?  How? How?

Since you haven’t answered I’ll do it for you, YOU WON’T! Get specific about your goals.  Write down EXACTLY what you want and be detailed.  Write down what it will look like, feel like, smell like, etc.  You have to specify exactly what your goal is and why its important that you accomplish it.  How will it make your life different? What steps, changes, and/or actions do you need to take to make it happen? Being specific will help you have clarity about what you want.

Myth #4: Setting goals doesn’t work,  just wing it.

First of all, who raised you?  If you fall into this category of thinking, punch yourself in your throat…go ahead…I’ll wait.  Really, who raised you? I’m just serious.

Seriously, don’t let this be you…please!  We’ve all heard the saying” if you fail to plan then you plan to fail” and if you haven’t before today…you’re welcome.

Just winging it will have you just going through life without a clue as to where you’re going or why you’re headed there.  Just winging it will have you helping somebody else live their dreams while you’re just surviving.  Just winging it will have you looking in the mirror at 50 trying to figure out what happened to all of those hopes and dreams you had at 20, 30 or 40.  If you want to experience extraordinary growth, life and success, get extra motivated to set goals so that you have a road map on those extraordinary things that are going to happen in your life.  Even if it doesn’t go exactly as planned, you’ll still get to your destination with a map.

Myth #5: You don’t have to write your goals down, just keep it all in your head, you got this.

#POW That was from me to you because if you think you won’t need to write your goals down, you need a pow, pow upside your head.  Please!  Please! WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN! Be intentional about your goals and the first action step is to start writing.  No excuses, just do it.  I don’t care if you write chicken scratch, you’re the one who will be reading it and you should be able to read your chicken scratch.   You need to be able to have your goals visible to you and also be able to reference and check off the action steps and ultimately your completed goal.  Seeing all of the steps you’ve completed not only gives you a visual of your accomplishments but it also sparks the motivation you need to keep pushing when times get hard.

Did any of these myths sound familiar to you?  Have you been letting any of these beliefs hold you back?  If so, it’s okay.  There’s no better time to start new thinking like the present.  Now that you know that these are myths, do different.  Believe in yourself and your goals.  Don’t limit yourself to only dream up to the ceiling, dream beyond the sky.  Be specific about your goals and your dreams.  Be so specific that you can taste, touch it, see it.  Don’t be discouraged if you’re not an overnight success.  Lastly and most importantly, WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN!
